The Hotel is near Alvor and midway between the traditional fishing port of Portimao and the historic town of Lagos.

Portimao is the nearest town and is approximately 4 kilometres from the resort for shops, local entertainment and a casino.

The resort offers a wide range of facilities and services specifically tailored to meet the requirements of all guests.

Bedroom facilities and amenities include air conditioning, international direct dialling, voicemail, data port, satellite channels, safe, mini bar, hairdryer, alarm clock, turndown service and wake up service.

The Hotel also has non smoking rooms, connecting rooms and 24 hour room service.

The 3 golf courses are an 18-hole Championship Course, a 9-hole Academy Course and a 9-hole Resort Course. There is also a Golf Academy for golfers of all abilities, driving range, practice holes and putting greens. Golf clinics and instruction are also available.

Further sporting facilities include 6 floodlit tennis courts, five of which are hard-surface courts, the other is Astro turf. Fees for tennis courts and lessons at the Tennis Academy can be arranged at the hotel's resort reservation centre.

The FIFA-sized football field has been used by teams such as Chelsea from the UK and Borussia Dortmund from Germany for winter training. There is also a three-kilometre jogging circuit with 12 exercise stations, free of charge for guests.

A fully equipped gymnasium is also available to guests free of charge. Mountain bikes are available all year round for use within the resort for a fee. At the Archery Academy, the hotel’s Archery instructor is available upon prior request.

Water sports are available from June to September. The Beach Club has a restaurant and offers windsurfing, sailing, pedaloes, waterskiing, sun beds and towel service. There is a free shuttle service to and from the beach throughout the season.

The outdoor swimming pool is free for residents and includes sun beds and a towel service. The beach is 4 kilometres from the hotel (with complimentary transfers from June to the end of September).

The Kangaroo Club - Penina Hotel's unique facility for children - offers a range of activities including an adventure play area, swimming pool with slide, creche, toys, arts and crafts materials and, a Penguin Mac Restaurant. Bicycles, film shows and a bouncing castle are also available.

The resort has a choice of 5 restaurants serving Portuguese, Italian and international cuisine. There are also 4 bars offering a choice of refreshments, snacks and cocktails. Children's menus, barbecues, themed evenings and formal dinners are all available.

The resort also has 3 meeting rooms to accommodate all types of conference, meeting, seminar, workshop or product launch. The main conference room is 186 sq. meters and offers translation equipment, audio recording, microphone system, audio-visual equipment and computer rental.
