Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mor is located in Ourem, approximately an hour and a half away from Lisbon, Portugal's exciting capital city.

The property has been in the same family since the 17th Century and has recently been converted to receive guests.

More recently, the former estate workers cottages have been fully restored and equipped to provide self catering accommodation.

Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mor has 4 comfortable and well furnished cottages which are described as follows:

2 one bedroom cottages:

Pateo Cottage a) Twin bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, heating, living room with fireplace, television
Pateo Cottage b) Double bedroom, shower room, heating, television and living room with fireplace (no kitchenette)

2 two bedroom cottages:

Alambique Cottage - Double bedroom, twin bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, heating, fireplace, living room with sofa bed, television, cd player, private porch
Lagaricas Cottage - Mezzanine with double bed, twin bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, heating, fireplace, living room with sofa bed, television, cd player, private porch

The cottages are elevated from the main houses and are surrounded by lawned areas. Barbecue is available under request.

There is also a modern swimming pool in the grounds which is available to both the guests staying in the cottages and, those staying in the main house.

Ourem is a medieval town just 10 kilometers north east of Fatima. This walled citadel is dominated by the 15th Century Castle. In fact, the whole area is like an open air museum.
Tomar, a few kilometres away is overlooked by a 12th Century Castle and the Convento de Cristo. Both of which are linked to the Order of the Knights Templars in Portugal.

In 1983 the Templar Castle and the Convent were classified as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

Alcobaca has a beautiful Gothic Monastery and the magnificent Monastery in Batalha is in the Manueline style.

The lively fishing town of Nazare which has beautiful sandy beaches and a variety of excellent seafood restaurants is approximately an hours drive from Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mor.
