Casa Porcalhota is one of
three former outhouses that have been converted into attractive, independent
cottages. They are located in the grounds of a Manor House in a small
seaside village near Viana do Castelo.
The cottages have their own private terrace from where guests can enjoy the views across the coastal fields to the Atlantic Ocean beyond. There are long sandy beaches which in many places have offshore rocks to break the Atlantic waves. Sufers will also enjoy the waves which break at the end of the beach. There are cafes and a restaurant near the beach. The owner lives in one wing of the main house which is traditionally furnished with many pictures of religious and general interest, some of which have been painted by the owner. Casa Porcalhota has an open plan lounge with a sitting area, with a televison, and a dining area. There is a traditional open fireplace with an old bread oven. The dining table top is made
from local marble and the kitchen sink is original and made from granite.
Leading off is a twin bedroom and a bathroom. Tiled steps lead up to the first floor where there is a double bedroom and a bathroom. A door leads out onto a private
terrace.
The large communal pool at the side of the house has integral steps. The dimensions are 15 metres by 6 metres and the depth is from 2,5 metres to 0,8 metres making it suitable for children under supervision. There is a terrace with a bar area near the pool. The beach is approximately 1 kilometre away and the village of Afife, outside the walled garden, has shops and restaurants. There is a train station in the village which will take you from Porto to Vigo in Spain. |
